Developing sound measures

The G-VERSITY project is looking for viable methods for achieving gender diversity in education and the workplace. The project will receive EUR 4.1 million from the EU “Horizon 2020” funding program.

The international “G-VERSITY – Achieving Gender Diversity” research project is investigating the factors influencing the educational and professional careers of women and men, as well as members of gender and sexual minorities. Furthermore, the “Horizon 2020” project will develop scientifically sound measures to promote gender diversity in working life. The measures will consist of workshops, guidelines and training materials, for example. The project is coordinated by Sabine Sczesny, Professor of Social Psychology at the Institute of Psychology at the University of Bern.

“G-VERSITY” is also an innovative training network for young researchers in Europe.  Within the framework of the “Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN)”, 15 PhD students hosted by nine European universities will work on research questions and help develop interventions for employers as part of their dissertation. European research groups from the fields of psychology, education, management and economics as well as media and communications science cooperate in the network.

“Horizon 2020 is an EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation from the European Commission. Social challenges are one of its main areas of focus: Problems that affect people in Europe and all over the world, the solution of which requires cooperation and the pooling of knowledge from different research disciplines, especially from the humanities and social sciences. Switzerland has been fully associated with Horizon 2020 since the beginning of 2017.”
